The development of the arboretum started in 1973 when David and Jennifer Binnian bought the land with a vision that took over 30 years to realise. David started the project as a hobby, just planting a few trees each winter until it developed into what it is today.
Bodenham Arboretum remains a family venture, with the second generation of Binnians fully involved in its planning, development and day-to-day management, and the third generation hovering in the wings. Bodenham received conditional English Heritage status in 1995.
The arboretum is a great place to visit at all times of the year, but is particularly beautiful in the autumn. The lakeside restaurant is perfect for a snack or meal after exploring the woodland.
